So, many people don't know the connection between me and the heart. I and the heart work together to make sure the body has the oxygen-rich blood it needs to function properly. The right side of the heart picks up the oxygen-poor blood from the body and moves it to me for cleaning and re-oxygenating the blood. After that the left side of the heart pumps this oxygenated blood throughout the body, so that every part receives the oxygen it needs.

Breathlessness
Remember the times you smoked? At first, it was just about relaxing and for fun. Soon enough, it became an addiction. You couldn't live without it and it affected me. All the nicotine, tobacco and, tar made their way inside the lungs, therefore, blocking the pipes that are linked to the nostrils when that happens it becomes difficult for me to collect and distribute oxygen this is why you feel shortness of breath (SOB). Not just smoking if I get exposed to pollution I get infected. Take care because breathless lead to asthma or other major lung diseases.
Shoulder pain:
If you think that only chest pains are related to my problems then you don't know. Usually, there are different pressure points and nerves that are linked to me (lungs). Many of these are also linked to your shoulders. As a result, whenever I am not well, you are likely to feel a little bit of pain in your shoulders this is referred pain. If this pain stays for long it's not just muscle spasm it indicates lung diseases.
Chest Pain
This is one of the most well-known signs of me calling for help. Ever felt a severe amount of pain on your chest? Well, it might have been because the respiratory pipes were blocked by micro particles and mucus. In most cases, this is enough to cause chest pain. Now add shortness of breath and you have got a recipe for disaster.
The mucus stuck in respiratory pipes will not allow the oxygen to enter the lungs, due to which your heart will try even more to pump the oxygen to the cells thus straining the muscles of the chest.
Back Pain
As we discussed in the previous point, when mucus blocks the airflow, our dear friend heart starts pumping blood furiously. This not only strains the chest muscles, but can do the same with muscles and tissues of your back. As such, you will find yourself suffering from a lot of back pain...
Don't blame me you didn't take good care of yourself, although there are several reasons for back pain like muscle spasm, bad posture, and many more so how will you identify that the problem is related to me? It's very simple if you have back pain accompanied by respiratory issues then probably the problem is related to me. Don't get confused with the back pain and breathlessness that occurs with exercise.
Cough
Generally, cough occurs because of inflammation or infection in your throat or at times in your lungs. When it goes unchecked, it can lead to major diseases. This is why you must be aware of the different types of cough. There are usually about three different types of cough...
Acute Cough
The first type of cough is an acute cough which may last up to 3 weeks. If you have this type of cough you may feel shortness of breath and swelling in the lips.
Sub-acute Cough
This type of cough can stay up-to weeks. Usually acute cough leads to sub-acute cough. Patients with this type of cough may often cough blood because of strain in the throat.
Chronic Cough
This third type of cough, when you have this type of cough you may have an underlying problem with your body. Chronic cough is common among smokers that's why we call it smokers cough. Usually asthma and lung cancer patients also have this problem. If your cough persists more than 8 weeks then seek medical help.
Fatigue
You think it's simple but it's something you should take care about. There are many reasons for feeling fatigue, when you don't get proper sleep, workload and many other reasons, but how will you know that your fatigue is related to me? Well it's simple, your body needs oxygen to replenish itself and, i'm the one responsible for it for getting that oxygen into your body. If my respiratory pipes are blocked with mucous which makes it harder for me to inhale oxygen, thus making it difficult to distribute it to the rest of your body...
In such a scenario I will prioritize the vital organs, such as heart, brain, liver, kidney. Where there is a lack of oxygen causing reduced power in the muscles and tissues making you feel tired, lazy, sleepy and you will always feel fatigued. Therefore when you don't take care of me you end up hurting your self. So take care of me if you don't want to deal with fatigue.
Now, let's talk about another very important point that's wheezing.
Wheezing
This brings us to begging for help. When I wheeze it means can't help myself, I'm crying and asking you to save me which shouldn't be ignored. When mucous gets stuck in the respiratory pipes they also increase the production of mucous. Unfortunately they spread and take apart of me, which me all those passages from where the oxygen gets into the body will be blocked. When there is a lack of oxygen you feel difficult to breathe and also feel that there is something under the chest when that happens you will also make a strange sound along with a cough that strange type of sound is known as wheezing. It's a warning as wheezing shouldn't be taken lightly. Usually, regular smokers also faces this problem but if it's left untreated it can lead to major inflammation, infection, and diseases.
So, I will not recommend you to do that to me, because if you will not take care of me you will be the one who will face issues, because there is no you without me. If you feel any of theses signs which I mentioned today please get medical help, and please take care of me as together we are everything.
Sincerely,
Your Lungs.
